MWF Filter – NSF #42 and NSF #53
1. Purchased from Bella Casa vendor which is direct, and not fulfilled by Amazon. Received by USPS Priority Mail about 3-4 days after order. Good timing.2. Many postings are about filters being counterfeit, based on posters saying the product labeling is “different”, or water taste isn’t as good as their previous OEM filter. I bought 4, and examined one, and believe they are NOT counterfeit based on: extensive labeling and data disclosure, included all the expected labeling such as “Made USA with globally sourced components” and “Distributed by GE Appliances.” Everything I would expect from the OEM.Added 09/2023: some posters complained about low water flow, and thus, assert their filter is a counterfeit. I also encountered low flow in the first months of use. I removed and re-installed the filter, and flow was fast again. Maybe there was air or some vacuum near the filter that slowed the flow. But flow is normal (relatively fast) again.3. If this is an OEM and not counterfeit, the next question is why is OEM better/or not better than 3rd Party substitutes. This vendor priced each OEM filter at $19, below the $49 on-line price at GE Appliances direct. The OEM performance meets NSF #42 and #53 standards – #42 relates to taste (chlorine, etc.), removal of non-hazardous chemicals that effect taste. #53 relates to removal of about 50 toxic chemicals, and is health related. Then, GE claims that the filter also removes 5 pharmaceuticals that is tested by a lab, and not part of a NSF standard. NSF standards require annual submission of a product. So if you are considering another replacement filter, nearly all claim NSF #42 (taste) but you should check if they are NSF #53. Not not #53, then the filter performance is not the same. The remove of 5 pharmaceuticals is a plus of the GE filter. You decide if the additional cost of an OEM GE filter is worth getting NSF #53.

Good filters but Wrong size
I bought this item to replace my filter. It was not compatible with my GE fridge. My filters are 50 +. One needs to really search the package for info. I bought my correct filter at Lowe’s.

Not made by GE
Look closely- though branded GE it is not. Click the manufacturer “Crystal Spring” and nothing comes up. Note too the production description: “”A tummy-toning gel with six active ingredients and an ab-activating applicator0-H30K0-H30K”. Benefits I sure never expected from my water filter. Counterfeit is a hard word to spell, maybe Bogus will do.
