Bad taste (UPDATE)
This is an uodate from my fisrt review.When it was time to change my filter after i used this one i decided to buy directly from samsung.com i followed the instryctions and noticed inmediately a big difference. My ice and water taste great. Also this filter came with an autenticatuion strip included. I decided to only bring it up a star to be fair. I don’t recall filtering two gallons of water before using it so fir that reason i will give them the benefit of the doubdt and give them and etra star, on another hand the filter did not come with any type of autentication so i still do t know if I didnt get an original product.(First review) I don’t know if got a defective one but the water tastes terrible.

Don’t last long.

New or used? Doesn’t fit snugly.
I thought this water filter was new but it came labeled as refurbished even though the listing doesn’t mention that – water was dripping from it when I took it out of the box, so did somebody just send back their old, used filter as a return?…we’ll never know…I did try to fit it, and it does not fit very snugly like my old one.

This filter may work well BUT it is not Samsung approved if your refrigerator needs water dispenser/ice maker repairs. (Even though it says Samsung on the filter). Samsung made me buy a verified official Samsung filter before they would do warranty work on my refrigerator.

OEM Filter
The Chinese knockoffs aren’t assured to be free of harmful particulates so although expensive to replace, suggest the OEM product from Korea. The OEM filter is noticeably heavier than the majority of knockoffs where the knockoffs aren’t providing the same filtration levels.

Not a Genuine Samsung Water Filter.
This is not a genuine Samsung water filter. When I bought it, I reviewed the packaging and literature, and concluded that it was. It’s NOT! An authentic filter has a serial number and tab on the filter itself that, when placed over a magnet found with the literature inside the box, shows green bars. This had no serial number , magnet or tab. I cannot judge the difference in performance. This filter installed and fit with no issues. and did not leak.

Does the job but wastes water to set up
Water tastes great. Biggest complain is you have to waste a lot of water to get it ready. About 3 gallons to flush it out before debris stops showing up. Would love a more efficient filter option.

Genuine Samsung Filter At A Good Price
I was happy to find this water filter at a lower price than Lowe’s, where we purchased our Samsung refrigerator, and that as a Prime member it was here in 2 days. I know some people opt to use universal filters at a much lower cost, but for as much as we spent on our refrigerator, I want to maintain it with genuine Samsung parts.

ZERO STARS! Flooded my kitchen!!
I’ve purchased this a couple times before. Worked fine for 2 weeks and then flooded my kitchen while I was out for 6 hours. Filled deli tray up with water and spilled out into freezer and throughout kitchen and dining area. Had to rip out floors and ceiling tile in basement. DO NOT BUY!

Good replacement filter
I originaly ordered the incorrect filter so make sure this is the model you need.The filter itself is to replace and the flavor is excellent. They recommend changing the filter every six months or when the flavor of the water begins to degrade. However, with normal use, which is daily with multiple people in our household, the filter seems to become ineffective after about three months. Even though these filters are less costly than previous models they need to be replaced often. Which is a small price to pay for clean, good tasting water that is going into our body.
